A Form 1 pupil at Batanayi High School in Redcliff was arraigned in court last week facing murder charges after he murdered another man in a brawl involving a Sixth form female student.
The teenager (name withheld), appeared before Kwekwe magistrate, Story Rushambwa, for beating a 21-year-old accusing him of being in love with his girlfriend.
Prosecuting during the teenager's brief appearance in court, Nyasha Ndoro told the court that the incident took place over the weekend.
On the fateful day, Ndoro told the court, the teenager was in the company of the girl in question, whose name was not mentioned in court, when the now deceased arrived.
"The deceased arrived at the girl's place with the intention to inquire about his lover as per norm," said Ndoro.
Upon arrival, the court heard, the teenager starting shouting obscenities to the now deceased accusing him of dating his girlfriend.
The girl, a Lower Sixth student at Batanayi High School, tried to intervene but failed to calm the Form 1 pupil who continued seething.
"He (the teenager) suddenly grabbed a chair before striking the man on the head and he fell unconscious," Ndoro narrated.
He was ferried to Kwekwe General Hospital before being transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he died upon admission.
The teenager was remanded in custody to 30 October 2017. LOCAL
