A trio allegedly gang-raped a 27-year-old Epworth woman (name withheld) while her three children haplessly watched the dastardly act unfold.
The accused Givemore Kunaka (31), Last Sithole (30) and Edwin Bvunzawabaya (33) were this week arraigned before Harare magistrate Hoseah Mujaya facing rape, unlawful entry and robbery charges. They were remanded in custody and will soon face trial.
Prosecutor, Timothy Makoni alleged that during the night of 3 September this year, the complainant was sitting in her room listening to music on her phone.
The court heard that she uses one room with her three children. Two were sleeping on the floor while the other was on the bed with her. It is alleged the gang of four forced open her door. It was averred she saw the trio entering the room and she remained seated as panic gripped her.
A fourth suspect allegedly stood guard by the door while the trio took turns to rape her. Following the dastardly act, it is alleged that the quartet ransacked the house and stole various household goods worth $612 and vanished into the night.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the three while the fourth suspect is still at large. LOCAL
